Just shooting tonights moon with my new D90, 600mm f4 and a 2x teleconverter
Moon shooting tips: Use tripod/bean bag any rest and your self timer to keep viberations at a minimum.
Use as long of a lens as you can get and size down 10% to get the sharpness up.
Shoot 2 stops under exposed and use increase contrast in editing to bring the moon up and make the background darker.
Shoot at lowest ISO to prevent noise in the background.
Use manual focus and refocus between shots. Shoot a dozen frames, one of them will be better focused than the others.
For the advanced, use a shareware program like combineZM to "focus stack" several images.
For exposure start around F8 and 1/250 sec. That's just a good starting point and adjust from there.
Full moons are the hardest to shoot. I like this phase because the shadows show relief of the craters so much better. That's a start. I'm sure I'm forgetting something.
I think you are very rich to have that lens on your camera ... it worth something about 11000 dollars in Iran... and that teleconverter is something about 400 dollars... but after all these... Very nice shot

Every obstacle, make impossible possible Even when winning's illogical Losing's still far from optional
In the US it's not so valuable. Lens was $1200 on ebay. It's an old manual focus lens that was used by the LA times news paper. TC is also a manual version and was another $100 on ebay...

On the nights I cannot sleep, I slip away and take a walk on the road In the summer I walk on the road by the parallel river The wind dampens softly and carries the smell of a memory The smell of oak makes me remember in the midst of my thoughts
